Fake UPI KYC freeze

Callers say a UPI or bank account is frozen unless you scan a QR code or install an app.

Warning signs

  1. 01

They say the account is already frozen, but your own UPI app still opens and shows a normal balance.

  2. 02

The “fix” is a QR code, a link, or a screen-sharing app such as AnyDesk.

  3. 03

They already quote part of your mobile number and treat that as proof they are the bank.

  4. 04

They tell you not to call the number printed on your card or in the official app.

  5. 05

The deadline is minutes, not a letter or a branch visit.

A bank does not unlock UPI by making you scan a QR or install a remote-access app.
