Digital arrest / CBI video call

Someone posing as police or a court demands money on a video call to avoid a fake warrant.

Warning signs

  1. 01

The call moves to WhatsApp, Skype, or Telegram and they refuse to let you hang up.

  2. 02

A person in a borrowed uniform, or a photo of an ID, is held up to the camera.

  3. 03

They name a parcel, a relative, or a “money laundering” case you have never heard of.

  4. 04

They want money moved to a “safe” account so it can be verified.

  5. 05

They say leaving the call, or telling your family, is a crime.

Police and courts do not arrest anyone over a video call, and they do not take fines on UPI.
