If something has already gone wrong

What to do right now

Act through official channels first. CyberVikram can help you recognise the scam, but it cannot recover money or file a complaint for you.

Immediate actions

Call 1930 immediately.

Report at cybercrime.gov.in (opens in a new tab).

  1. Step 1

    Stop further payments

Do not send more money, share another OTP, install an app, or give remote access. Scammers often come back claiming they can recover funds.

  2. Step 2

    Call 1930 immediately

1930 is the national helpline for cyber financial fraud. Call as soon as you can. Keep any transaction IDs, UPI references, screenshots, and phone numbers ready.

  3. Step 3

    File a report at cybercrime.gov.in

Use the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to submit a complaint. This is the official route. A report on CyberVikram is not a substitute.

  4. Step 4

Tell your bank or payment app

Use the app’s official help or fraud option, or visit the branch. Ask them to mark the transaction and freeze further unauthorised activity if they can.

  5. Step 5

    Keep the evidence

Save messages, call logs, payment screens, and website addresses. Do not delete the conversation while you are reporting it.

After you have used 1930 and the official portal, you can share a report on CyberVikram so others can recognise the same pattern. It is not an official complaint.
