Parcel and customs-fee messages
A text about a parcel you did not order, with a small customs fee, is there to collect a card or UPI payment.
The message says a parcel is waiting, or that customs has held it. The fee looks small. The link asks for a card, a UPI PIN, or an OTP. There is no parcel.
What to do with the message
If you are not expecting a delivery, ignore the message. Do not pay a small amount “just to check.”
If you are expecting one, open the courier’s website by typing it, or use the tracking page in the shop where you ordered. Do not use the link in the SMS.
A real customs process for a parcel you ordered does not start with a random WhatsApp message asking for a UPI transfer to a person.
Do not call the phone number inside that message. It belongs to the same people.
If you entered a card number, call the bank and block the card. If you paid by UPI, call 1930 with the reference number.
If money has already left your account, call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in. This page is awareness information. It does not file a complaint.
